Links—The following are websites that can provide you with information to encourage, show you how others are advocating, and offer you opportunities to get involved. This is by no means a complete list but it can put you on the right track to become more informed.
1. http://www.tearfund.org/ –Tearfund works through local churches and Christian agencies to open up brighter futures for the world’s poorest communities.
2. http://www.wvi.org/wvi/home.htm –World Vision is an international Christian relief and development organization working to promote the well being of all people-especially children.
3. www.30hourfamine.org –30 Hour Famine is an international youth movement to fight hunger.
4. www.actionaid.org –Helps poor people around the world. Site includes campaign information and downloadable fact sheets by country.
5. www.unmillenniumproject.org – A summary of the Millennium Development Goals and task force reports.
6. www.whiteband.org –A global site encouraging action against poverty.
7. www.aidsalliance.org –Is the new website of the AIDS Alliance where a number of helpful resources can be downloaded free.
8. www.jubilee-centre.org –The goal of this UK centre is Christians inspired and equipped to shape social and political life according to biblical principles and its task is research into and promotion of the biblical vision for society and its contemporary relevance. They have a number of resources including some Cambridge Papers free online.
9. www.calltorenewal.net –Sojourners/Call to Renewal’s mission is to articulate the biblical call to social justice, inspiring hope and building a movement to transform individuals, communities, the church, and the world. We work with a national network of churches, faith-based organizations, and individuals to overcome poverty in America.
10. www.who.int/en/ –The World Health Organization is the United Nations specialized agency for health. It was established on April 7, 1948. WHO’s objective, as set out in its Constitution, is the attainment by all peoples of the highest possible level of health. Health is defined in WHO’s Constitution as a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.
